Back Pain

Back pain can be felt in the neck, the upper or lower portions of the back, or in the tailbone area. The pain can come from various parts of the anatomy including the vertebrae, discs, muscles, or nerves. Common causes are accidents, sports injuries, or muscle strains.

What kind of symptoms may I feel?

  • Stiffness or aching along your spine anywhere from the base of your neck to your tailbone.
  • Spasms in the lower back when trying to stand up straight.
  • Persistent aching in your mid or lower back after long periods of sitting or standing.
  • Sharp pain in your back when lifting objects or performing other physical activities.
  • Pain radiating from your lower back, down through your buttocks, and continuing through the back of your thigh, calf, and into your toes.

How Can Inspirit Help Me?

The management goals when treating back pain are to achieve maximal reduction in pain intensity as rapidly as possible; to restore the individual's ability to function in everyday activities; to help the patient cope with residual pain; and to assess for side effects of therapy. For many, the goal is to keep the pain to a manageable level to progress with rehabilitation, which then can lead to long term pain relief, while avoiding surgery.
